Van Buskirk Reuse

A Strategic Design and Reuse Project

The City of Stockton Community Services Department has prepared a Master Plan for the rehabilitation and reuse of the former Van Buskirk Golf Course property. The property is located next to the Van Buskirk Community Center and is ideally suited for active and passive outdoor recreational facilities, programs, and activities.

Project Details

A $260,000 design contract with Design Workshop Inc. was approved by City Council on November 17, 2020, and the design process began in December 2020. The proposed design was approved by City Council, on January 24, 2023.

On August 22, 2023, City Council accepted the 2023 Van Buskirk Master Plan and 2023 Biological Resources and Ecosystem Values of the Van Buskirk Golf Course. The 2023 Van Buskirk Master Plan includes opportunities for flood protection, passive and active recreation facilities, programs, and activities. It will be used to pursue funding opportunities for a phased approach to the project. The 2023 Biological Resources and Ecosystem values of the Van Buskirk Golf Course is supporting document for the Master Plan. It provides information relevant to the possible future permitting or mitigation activities required for federal or state laws that meet rehabilitation and reuse objectives.
