StocktonCon This Weekend - Join Us

StocktonCon, presented by Utility Telecom, celebrates its sixth year in 2017! This year’s event is coming up this weekend -- August 19-20 (Saturday and Sunday) at Stockton Arena. The action in the Arena goes from 10am-5pm both days.

Two-Day Passes for StocktonCon are available at a special pre-sale price of $18, while One-Day passes are available for $13. Tickets are $22 for a Two-Day Pass at the door, and $15 for a One-Day Pass at the door. Tickets are available at over 30 ticket sales locations around Northern California and at http://ticketmaster.com.

Overwhelming fan support has helped StocktonCon move from a one-day event at University of the Pacific, to one of the top pop culture events on the West Coast, bringing thousands to Stockton Arena each year.

Special City Council Meeting to Focus on Strong Communities Expenditure Plan

The Stockton City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Monday, August 21, 2017, at 6:00 p.m., to consider a Strong Communities Expenditure Plan.

Strong Communities was approved by voters in November 2016, with the passage of Measure M, providing funding for City of Stockton Community Services, Recreation and Libraries.Meeting will be held at City Hall Council Chamber, 425 N. El Dorado Street, 2nd floor.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend this Special Meeting, which has been scheduled specifically for Strong Communities. The regularly scheduled Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 22.

This one-quarter cent special transaction and use tax became effect April 1, 2017. Approved for a period of 16 years, it is estimated to provide between $9.1 million and $14.8 million annually for recreation and libraries. The City Council has already adopted a set of guiding principles, as well as approved new positions for restoring hours and programs at Libraries and Community Centers.

Victory Park Public Art Meeting

A community meeting will be held Wednesday, August 30, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the North Hall of the Civic Auditorium, 525 N. Center Street, to gather input from the community for a new public art project in Victory Park. The workshop will be facilitated by the Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) of the Stockton Arts Commission and City staff. Several potential themes for the new piece will be discussed with residents, with input being used to develop a proposal to select an artist and present a design to the City Council for approval.
