Fire Department Hosts Open House at Station No. 6

The Stockton Fire Department will host an Open House at Fire Station No. 6 at 1501 Picardy Lane at Victory Park, Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Families, neighbors, community and service groups are invited to visit Company No. 6 and learn about fire safety and what it is like to be a Stockton Firefighter.

Meet local Firefighters and other members of the Stockton Fire Department, take a tour of the station, enjoy free hot dogs and a jump house for kids, learn how to identify and use Safe and Sane fireworks, watch the “Jaws of Life” for vehicle extrication in action, and visit community information exhibits – with giveaways!

Kids will learn about smoke alarms and what to do in case of a fire at the Fire Safety Trailer, and parents can get free fingerprinting for children, offered by the Stockton Police Department.

Vietnam Memorial Wall

The traveling half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is coming to Stockton!

The Moving Wall will be on display and is free and open to the community, 24 hours a day staffed by veterans and civilian volunteers. Volunteers can help locate names, accompany individuals or families to the Wall, help with taking a “rubbing” of a name or just being available as a “silent partnerl.

During darkness, it will be bathed in a sheen of golden light.

The opening ribbon cutting with be held at 3pm on Thursday, June 29 with special program taking place on Saturday, July 1 at noon. Both events are free and open to the public.

Over the course of two decades more than 58,000 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice in response to our nation's call to service in Vietnam. 5,575 were from California and 52 were from Stockton alone.
