Events

Planning a special event begins when a Special Event Permit Application is submitted on time and with payment. A Special Event Permit Application is required when an organized activity is conducted at any City Park, building, street, or other facilities (public property) when the public is invited or admitted with a common purpose for any one or more of the following:

  • Fee charged or money collected
  • Alcohol and/or food to be sold
  • City facilities will be closed to general use by the public or use by the general public denied in part or in whole.
  • The location is used beyond its normal capacity or typical range of uses.
  • Activity on a street or other public place is impacted in a manner that disrupts normal or usual traffic patterns, regulations, or controls.

Special Event Permit Application Timeline

  • Special Event Permit Application must be submitted to the Special Events Unit no less than 45 calendar days prior to the event date. The Special Event Permit Application Fee is $55.
  • Completed application and any required attachments must be submitted to the Parking and Events Office at 425 N. El Dorado Street, Stockton CA 95202.

4th of July Parade and Festival

Celebrate Independence Day on July 4 in downtown Stockton with friends and family. Weber Point Events Center will open to the public on July 4, 2024, for the community to celebrate and gather for a day full of festivities and free viewing of the fireworks show along the downtown waterfront.
  
  • The 4th of July parade, hosted by United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County, begins at 11:00 a.m. 
  • Gates to the Weber Point Events Center will open at Noon, after the parade.
  • The fireworks show is expected to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m., following the Stockton Ports game. 
    • The fireworks show will last about 20 minutes, and Weber Point Events Center will close immediately following the fireworks. 
Artisanal food vendors and an array of food trucks will be on-site to entice every palate. For more family fun, there will be activities for kids, including inflatable slides, face painting, and the Weber Point Events Center water feature will be available for all to enjoy. Live performances by Ballet Folklorico Dance and the Latin Magic Band will get everyone up on their feet to dance the night away. Bring towels, blankets and lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the celebration.

Vendor Application for July 4th

Merchant vendors interested in joining the July 4th Downtown Celebration can apply by submitting the Special Event Vendor form to economic.development@stocktonca.gov. This event is only accepting applications for merchant vendors (no food or drink vendors).  Interested vendors must apply no later than Friday, June 21, 2024.  Fees for approved vendors are due June 27, 2024.

Restrictions Apply

To ensure a family-friendly and safe environment, hard top coolers, alcohol, glass containers, bottles, personal fireworks and pets will not be permitted in the park. Smoking is prohibited. Event security and law enforcement personnel will uphold all restrictions.

The Weber Point Events Center parking lot will be reserved for vendors and will not be available for event parking. Parking for those attending the Fourth of July event will be on-street or in City lots; parking fees apply in City lots. All posted parking limitations and restrictions will apply.
