Employee Leaves

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), and Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) leave entitlements allow employees to balance work and family life by taking reasonable leave for specific purposes.

Long Term Disability (LTD)

The City provides Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits to non-safety employees through Reliance Standard.

  • Depending on the bargaining unit, LTD benefits for safety employees may be provided through a statewide safety employee association or purchased by employees, on a voluntary basis, through the employee union/association.

The City participates in the State Disability Insurance (SDI) program for the following bargaining units:

  • Mid-Management/Supervisory Level (B&C)
  • Operations and Maintenance (O&M)
  • Stockton City Employees' Association (SCEA)
  • Trades and Maintenance (T&M)
  • Water Supervisory Unit (WSUP)

SDI is administered through the Employment Development Department (EDD). It is a partial-wage replacement insurance plan for California workers mandated by the state and funded through employee payroll deductions.

The two benefits the City participates in are:

  • Disability Insurance
  • Paid Family Leave

The SDI presentation from the April 2020 webinar for the Unrepresented group can be found below.
