Republic Services and Waste Management, the City's two residential waste collection service providers, start "Leaf Season" collection on October 1 and end December 31.
During Leaf Season only, your service provider will collect up to 5 additional 30-gallon bags of leaves every week at no additional charge. Just place bagged leaves next to your organics cart on your regular service day. These leaves are then sent to local compost facilities.
Remember, leaf bags must contain only leaves. If a bag contains leaves mixed with grass trimmings, branches, brush or other non-leaf content, the bag will require an "Extra Service" sticker.
All yard waste must be in containers. Use this helpful list of leaf tips to manage leaves during Leaf Season.
Residents are not allowed to rake, blow or pile leaves in the street for collection. This is a violation of the Stockton Municipal Code; you could be subject to a fine. The only leaves that should be in the street are those that fall naturally. Only these leaves will be collected by street sweepers every other week.
Please contact your waste collection service provider with any questions about seasonal leaf collection.
