The Fire Prevention Division is located in the Permit Center with the Community Development Department, Planning & Engineering Division, and the Building & Life Safety Division. This one-stop location streamlines service for both business owners and contractors.

Fireworks Safety Message from Chief Edwards

Fireworks Safety Demonstrations

The Stockton Fire Department and Stockton Police Department will host community fireworks safety demonstrations at City of Stockton Community Centers to provide information and education about the proper handling and disposal of Safe and Sane Fireworks; the dangers of illegal fireworks; how to report illegal fireworks in your neighborhood; and an overview of the City of Stockton fireworks ordinance. All demonstrations will begin at 6:30 p.m.:

  • Tuesday, June 25 – Arnold Rue Community Center, 5758 Lorraine Ave.
  • Wednesday, June 26 – Seifert Community Center, 128 W. Benjamin Holt Dr.
  • Thursday, June 27 – Stribley Community Center, 1760 E. Sonora St.
  • Friday, June 28 – Van Buskirk Community Center, 734 Houston Ave.
All members of the community are invited to bring family, friends, and neighbors to any of these sessions. Only fireworks with the State Fire Marshal Safe and Sane Seal are permitted in the City of Stockton. Safe and Sane fireworks are a category of fireworks that do not shoot up into the air or leave the ground. 

Social Host and Penalties Ordinance Update - Effective June 14, 2022

Effective June 14, 2022, the Stockton City Council adopted an ordinance imposing penalties on individuals who use illegal fireworks and extending the liability to those who are in charge of the property, such as owners and tenants, for violations that occur on their property.
