Shade Structure Rehabilitation Project - Phase 2

Weber Point Events Center is a 9.7-acre outdoor event facility located at 221 N. Center St. Weber Point is year-round downtown attraction for festivals, concerts, and community celebrations. Features include a children’s play area, amphitheater, interactive water feature, waterfront promenade, and impressive fabric shade structure that covers the stage area.  The shade structure covering the stage area was in poor condition and is being replaced. 

Project Description

This project will replace the Weber Point Events Center Shade Structure, including the worn-out fabric membrane that has been removed, repainting, “cat-eye” cables, small turnbuckles, aluminum clamp bars, and other miscellaneous hardware.

Work Hours

  • Construction Phase 1 – Repainting the Shade Structure will begin July 8, 2024, with an anticipated completion date of July 26, 2024. 
  • Construction Phase 2 – Installation of Fabric Membrane is expected to begin in October 2024 and be completed by November 2024.
Construction hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The Weber Point Events Center will remain open during construction.  The contractor will install construction fencing around the perimeter of the work area.

Project Funding

On November 21, 2021, by Resolution No. 2021-11-16-1501, the Stockton City Council allocated $12.7 million in discretionary funding for various parks, trees, transportation, and facility projects citywide to benefit our community. The funding allocated for this project is $1,250,000.
